Our Study Centre is situated in the picturesque
village of Léran, within walking distance of the
beautiful Lake Montbel, overlooking the Pyrénées.
Mirepoix is just 10 minutes drive away and is famous for its 15th century oak arcades framing its market square.
Be sure not to miss St Maurices gothic cathedral, the medieval half timbered houses and beautiful nearby "villages Fleuris" such as Camon.
The famous Cathar Castle of Montségur is just 15 minutes away from Léran. If you want to go a bit further afield the fortified city of Carcassonne is a 45 minute drive or explore the tranquility of the Canal du Midi, both of which are UNESCO world heritage sites.
There are many activities in the surrounding area; horse riding, biking and guided tours just a few minutes from Léran; kayaking, walking or skiing in the Pyrénées; sailing, fishing and swimming at Lac Montbel.
In the foothills of the Pyrénées, less than an hour to the sea and skiing, and within easy reach of Carcassonne, Toulouse and Perpignan airports, Tara Institute is the perfect location conducive to learning and studying in contemplative surroundings.
